News: Cyber Monday Set to Boost Small Online Businesses

Today is expected to be the busiest online shopping day in history, giving a welcome boost to small businesses selling their goods online.

‘Cyber Monday’ is traditionally the Monday after Thanksgiving in the US, where online sales hit their peak. The tradition has crossed over to the UK in the past few years, with each year breaking the sales record of the last. Today should be no exception, with online sales in the UK expected to reach £465m. A further boost has been given to Cyber Monday this year, being so close to the last payday before Christmas for many workers.

It just shows how important it is for small retail businesses to have a website, as many more people will be searching for the perfect gift today. But even if you don’t sell online there should still be a sales boost on the way – it’s expected that last minute gift hunters will take to the High Street on 22-23 December, making these the busiest shopping days.
