News: Small Businesses Can Advertise to 23m People for Free

Mobile network O2 is giving small businesses free advertising with its relaunched Priority Moments app. Any business can now advertise special offers on the app, which users will be able to browse when they’re nearby.

The marketing technique is already popular with large chains, and is now open to small businesses regardless of which mobile phone network they use.

To use the service, businesses need to have a physical location open to customers and it must be a B2C company. It only takes a couple of minutes to create an offer, which is visible to users of the app within a few hours.

An O2 spokesperson said the service “will enable small local businesses up and down the country to create offers and experiences that are relevant, local and immediately redeemable, helping to drive footfall, build customer loyalty and boost profit”.

By targeting local users, it’s hoped small businesses will be able to compete with the offers promoted by larger businesses. It at least offers the opportunity to attract some of O2’s 23 million customers while they’re out and about near your shop, salon, restaurant etc.
