Small business news roundup September 6th-13th

close up on stack of papersDid you miss any small business news this week? We’ve put together a quick roundup of the top stories we covered on the bOnline Small Business Secrets blog over the past seven days. Here’s what you might have missed:

On Monday, we heard that stress is costing UK businesses £1 billion per year. Almost one in five employees have taken time off work due to stress, and 28.8% said they feel stressed at work all or most of the time.

Next, it was revealed that almost half of small business loan requests are rejected by banks. As a result, 56% of businesses surveyed think banks care little for small businesses. This is driving an interest in alternative financing.

On Wednesday we discussed the possibility of the end of the traditional office. The amount of people regularly working remotely has risen to 42% from 39% last year. However, half of people think managers find it hard to trust remote workers.

And yesterday, we told you about the government’s latest investment in small businesses. David Cameron announced a £69 million boost to the Start-Up Loans Scheme and the New Enterprise Allowance.
