Small business website of the week: Hair by Jane

Hair Salon in Hitchin Hair by Jane. Hairdresser and hair stylist.

Hair by Jane is a hair salon in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, run by Jane Lyons. Jane had a website with another provider, but was not satisfied with the site’s performance on search engines for her chosen search terms. Jane said: “I was very unhappy with the website company I was with. They had messed me around for a long time and I was not coming up on the first page.”

Jane researched several providers, but decided to build her business website with bOnline. Jane said: “The price was very clear with no hidden extras. I have had prices from other companies and they are ridiculous.”

Jane chose to take advantage of bOnline’s professional design package, but was able to provide lots of guidance and approve the design along the way. She said: “I am extremely fussy, I am a hairdresser and know exactly what I want. Charley [the designer] was great, and very patient.”

Jane also decided to give her new site a boost on search engines with bOnline’s managed SEO package, which includes search engine optimisation from a dedicated advisor, as well as advanced tools and a monthly progress report.

Getting a new business website was easier than Jane expected. She said bOnline “made everything seem clear, from setting up my new website, moving my domain name over, and the SEO side of things.”

Thanks to the advanced SEO of the website, Hair by Jane reached the first page of Google results for ‘hairdresser in Hitchin’ within weeks. Jane said: “In my town there are loads of salons and it’s very competitive. I did think it would be some time before I got on the first page.”

Summing up her experience with bOnline, Jane said: “They have been brilliant and totally professional throughout – I wish I’d changed years ago.”
