Monthly Website Editing Tip – Clickable Phone Numbers and Emails

bOnline’s Service Manager, Nicholas Gazel, explains how to make any phone number or email address a clickable link:

A great feature of the bOnline web builder platform that many people overlook is the ability to make any phone number or email address “clickable.”   This allows visitors to simply click on any telephone number or email address and automatically call the phone number or open a blank email with the address already added.

To make a phone number clickable:

  1. Sign into your bOnline website.
  2. Go to the page with the phone number.
  3. Click customise then Edit Content.
  4. Highlight the full phone number.
  5. On the left side of the page click the “Add Link” button.
  6. The Add Link pop up window will appear.
  7. Under Protocol select “<other>”
  8. Then in the URL field add the following: “Tel:” followed by your phone number. If you phone number is 123456789 it would look like “Tel:123456789”
  9. Click the green OK button, then the blue Save All button

To make an email address clickable:

  1. Sign into your bOnline website.
  2. Go to the page with the email address.
  3. Click customise then Edit Content.
  4. Highlight the full email address.
  5. On the left side of the page click the “Add Link” button.
  6. The Add Link pop up window will appear.
  7. Under “Link Type” select “E-mail”
  8. From there you can enter in any email address, subject and message you would like.
  9. Click the green OK button, then the blue Save All button
