A report from Catalogues 4 Business (C4B) has revealed that small businesses are still lagging behind when it comes to digital marketing.
More than a third (39%) have a website which is not designed to work on mobile devices, despite the fact that tablet-driven eCommerce has tripled this year to take up 10.4% of the total market.
With the growth of social media, around two thirds of small businesses have implemented social media into their marketing strategy. However, a worrying third of businesses surveyed still do not have a social media plan in place.
Small businesses are also failing to keep track of their website traffic, with 7% admitting they never check their website statistics. Only half of companies said they check their website traffic on a weekly basis.
Commenting on the report this week, C4B’s Managing Director Ian Simpson said: “The figures are really quite shocking. You can’t afford to ignore the importance of mobile optimisation if you are to survive and flourish in today’s markets.
“In order to target your customers effectively you have to consider the types of devices that your digital media is view on. And this includes websites, email, digital publications and social media.”
