Small businesses in the UK will now be able to run their own advertisements on Twitter, it was announced this week.
Previously, adverts and promoted Tweets were only available to US-based companies or larger businesses with a working relationship with Twitter.
Now businesses of any size, as well as individuals, will be able to set up Twitter adverts to promote their accounts or specific Tweets.
Ravi Narasimhan, a product manager at Twitter, said “If you can Tweet, you can advertise on Twitter. All you need is a Twitter account and a credit card. You’re in control of your ads, the audience you want to reach, and of course your budget.”
The new advertising capability is being backed by O2 Business, which is offering support and resources to small businesses on Twitter, including £50 Twitter ad credit for customers who use their tools.
