Flash websites were very popular a few years ago, and the web is full of impressive examples of fancy graphics and animation. Flash websites are expensive to build, often slow to load, and unfortunately are as good as no website at all if you’re expecting anyone to visit your site from a mobile device, as many are not compatible with the technology.
Who got it wrong:
This Flash-based website has a slick-looking interface, but is actually difficult to use when it comes down to navigation. When we tested the site, it took several minutes to load all the content, and of course the site is all but useless on mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads.
Who got it right:
This bOnline website uses a more traditional format, so visitors should have no trouble navigating the site. The site still looks visually interesting thanks to a moving image carousel and a large background image, and best of all, it is responsive so it is compatible with mobile devices of every type.
